Job Description

Position Overview (Summary/Objective):

ARKA Group, LP is seeking talented Junior Software Engineer to join our team in Ypsilanti, MI that support U.S. defense and intelligence community partners. By joining our team, you will be part of teams building innovative software solutions using mathematical solutions to support users in the defense and intelligence communities. Your technical skills and passion for innovation will be instrumental in supporting our customers and their missions to keep us safe.


Responsibilities:

  • Take algorithm definitions and prototypes and convert them into software applications that run efficiently on large images and are ready for operational environments. Collaborate with radar/electro-optical and research scientist experts to solve issues and iterate to improve image product quality.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable software applications using modern programming languages and technologies. Write code that adheres to best practices and coding standards.
  • Contribute to automated test and verification software and tools.
  • Participate in all aspects of the development lifecycle, including planning, requirements development, software design, implementation and build, documentation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Learn to independently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely and effective manner.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technology fields.
    (5 years of professional experience in lieu of degree)
  • Knowledge and capability in at least one programming language (C++, Python, and/or JAVA).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to advance large software development packages by taking on and completing tasks independently.
  • Must be willing to work on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
  • Other language skills: Java, Rust, scripting or similar.
  • Experience developing in a Linux environment.
  • Version control experience in Git (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).
  • Academic or professional experience in radar or electro-optical fields.
  • Work in formal software development methodologies (Agile).
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure preferred).
  • Experience writing software implementing algorithms.
  • Desire to learn new technologies.

This position is located on site at Ypsilanti, Michigan. Ypsilanti is artistic, genuine, and original. A college town and city located on the Huron River in Washtenaw County.
